Terms and Conditions.
LOANING OF EQUIPMENT
The person who has taken and signed for the equipment via the Siso booking system, takes full responsibility for it during the time of issue. The equipment should not be sub-loaned to any other person. It should be kept in a secure place at all times and on the person who has loaned the equipment when in public places (including within the university).
By signing the loan form, you agree that the equipment has been fully checked on issue and all kits are complete. You also agree that you take full responsibility of the equipment issued.
We recommend that the person with the issued equipment takes out insurance cover specifically for loaned equipment. Please check that your insurance covers for hired in equipment and doesn’t only cover owned equipment.
Loss of any of the equipment, faults that are discovered or damage that is incurred while you are in possession of equipment loaned must be reported online to nick.wiltshire@bucks.ac.uk as soon as possible - equipment that becomes unusable should be returned for replacement (if available). Please note that we do not provide SD cards or compact flash cards.
Technical Resources take no responsibility for the loss of data from any media storage type, including hard drives and camera card media, under our care you are expected to make copies of all required files prior to returning equipment.
You must not use the equipment or facilities in a way that breaches any of Buckinghamshire New University guidelines, policies, regulations, or that brings Bucks New University into disrepute.
Student users are not permitted to use any equipment for profit or private business use.
Pre-booking is recommended via your Siso account to ensure that the equipment is reserved for the time you request it.
Ad-hoc issuing is permitted but be aware that the item may not be in stock when you require it.
Equipment can only be issued and returned during the opening times of the Photographic Kit Hub, advertised on the door of the Hub, on the Siso booking system and on Blackboard.
No equipment should be taken overseas or outside of the UK.
To use the facilities, you must have a relevant health and safety induction once a year and the relevant training to use the equipment within the facility. This should be stamped into your Passport books for later inspection.
You must let us know of all attendees within your photographic session, including their roles (i.e. photographer, model, makeup etc). You must let us know of ALL props (this includes outfits, garments, wigs or SFX prosthetics) and special requests, giving at least one weeks notice (i.e. special backdrop colours, and anything that you are planning that may fall outside of our workshop code of practice). All of this information should be put down in as much detail as possible in the booking form.
A booking will only be authorised once the booking information has been satisfactorily reviewed and any potential risks assessed. We cannot guarantee that this will be completed in time for your booking so as much notice as possible is advised.
You must return all facilities/workshops/studios to their original condition at the end of your session following the workshop code of practise and standard operating procedures for those areas.
We expect you to tell us when you are unable to return equipment or show up for a studio booking/demo/workshop session. If we cannot alter your booking, you must arrange the return of any equipment booked.
We expect you to inform us of all activities during your session in the studios. This includes all attendees and their roles, model release forms and ALL props (this includes outfits, garments, wigs or SFX prosthetics).
You must be fully competent in the use of any equipment before you use it or take it away. You must attend a health and safety induction once a year every year for 3 yrs to use the photographic studio and the darkroom areas.
Equipment
must be checked at the time of issue, and
return, it is your responsibility to ensure the equipment is in the correct
condition and all items of kits are present.
Professional practice ensures that the next person’s work is not disrupted therefore any equipment or items booked must be returned and all areas are left as you found them. You would expect the same in their position.
